Squirrel Hill is a residential neighborhood in the East End of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Once farmland and forest, Squirrel Hill by the 1930s had developed into an affluent city neighborhood. Of Squirrel Hill’s population of about 28,105 (in 12,745 households), about 40% of are Jewish. The area is also becoming Pittsburgh’s new Chinatown with an influx of mainland Chinese students from Carnegie Mellon University.
