Carlow University

Carlow University is a private, liberal arts university in Oakland. Offering small classes, on-site and online programs, and generous financial aid, Carlow provides an exceptional education within a compassionate community rooted in the heritage of the Sisters of Mercy.

Carnegie Mellon University

Located in Squirrel Hill and Oakland, Carnegie Mellon is a global leader in technology that is ranked in the top 25 National Universities by U.S. News and World Report. CMU is also home to a world-renowned School of Drama.

Chatham University

Founded in 1869, Chatham University in Squirrel Hill has an enrollment of over 2,200 students and over 60 undergraduate and graduate programs in sustainability & health; business & communications; and the arts & sciences.

Duquesne University

Located in Uptown Pittsburgh, Duquesne is one of the leading major private, Catholic universities in the U.S. Its 9400 students come from 90 nations around the world. Recognized as one of the safest urban campuses in the U.S. by USA Today.

Geneva College

A private Christian college of liberal arts and sciences located in Beaver Falls, Pennsylvania, 35 miles northwest of Pittsburgh. Student body enrollment is a little over 2000.

Grove City College

Since its founding in 1876, Grove City College, provides a high-quality liberal and professional education with an emphasis on Christian principals.

Indiana University of Pennsylvania

IUP, the smallest BIG public university in Pennsylvania, is located northeast of Pittsburgh in Indiana, Pennsylvania. IUP is has three campuses and an annual enrollment of 14,000.

LaRoche College

Ranked as one of the safest four-year college campuses in the United States, La Roche is a private, Catholic, co-educational college north of Pittsburgh.

Pennsylvania State University

The main University Park campus is located about 3 hours east of Pittsburgh in State College, Pennsylvania, but Penn State also offers several Pittsburgh area campuses including Penn State McKeesport and Penn State New Kensington.

Point Park University

This independent, co-educational liberal arts university located in the heart of downtown Pittsburgh puts an emphasis on career-based education. Best known for its programs in theatre, dance, business, education, and journalism and communications.

Robert Morris University

An independent, co-educational institution offering undergraduate and graduate degree programs, the 230 acre Moon Township campus has over 3000 students, while the Pittsburgh campus features a college atmosphere in a business setting.

Saint Vincent College

A four-year Catholic, Benedictine, liberal arts college located in the Laurel Highlands region near Latrobe, PA (about 40 miles from Pittsburgh). SVC has been named by several leading magazines as one of the best college buys in the U.S.

Seton Hill University

Located in Greensburg, PA, east of Pittsburgh is a small liberal arts school with an excellent student/teacher ratio. Offers the opportunity to design your own major!

Slippery Rock University

One of the largest campuses in western PA, SRU s a public university located on 600 acres just 50 minutes north of downtown Pittsburgh. This liberal-arts school enjoys an enrollment of some 7,600 students in more than 100 degree programs.

University of Pittsburgh

Founded in 1787, the Pittsburgh Academy was located in a log cabin near Pittsburgh’s three rivers. It is now a state-related, public research university with 32,300 students and 9,600 faculty members, research associates, and staff.

Washington and Jefferson College

Founded in 1781, W&J is one of America’s oldest, national liberal arts colleges. Internationally known for its pre-law and pre-health programs. Located in Washington, Pennsylvania, about 40 minutes southwest of Pittsburgh.

Westminster College

Founded in 1852 and affiliated with the Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.), Westminster College is ranked first in the country in graduation rate performance among national liberal arts college, according to U.S. News & World Report, and is the most affordable national liberal arts college in Pennsylvania.

For over fifty years, the Coalition has been an active and important link in the community. It has served as a sounding board for new ideas, as well as a “watchdog” in the areas of public safety, education, residential quality, the business district, and parks and open space. With its focus on the quality of life in the 14th Ward, SHUC continues to monitor activities and future developments in the community through a range of standing committees.
