Trees clean our air, provide shade on hot summer days, reduce stormwater runoff, improve property values, and beautify our neighborhood. These are only a few reasons why the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition, Uncover Squirrel Hill and Tree Pittsburgh are working to get more trees planted in Squirrel Hill.
Thanks to the Pennsylvania Department of Conservation and Natural Resources’ (DCNR) grant program, TreeVitalize, you can have street trees planted in front of your property for FREE. This resource offers a great opportunity for Squirrel Hill residents to contribute to the community’s vitality, one tree at a time. Simply fill out the Tree Request Form and mail it to Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition’s main office at 5604 Solway Street. We’ll forward your request – along with your neighbors’ – on to the city’s forestry division.
Please consider planting a tree. After all, it’s free!
