412 Food Rescue District 8 Community Takeout Program

The Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition and Uncover Squirrel Hill are proud to be supporting 412 Food Rescue’s new District 8 Community Takeout program. This program provides a way to support local restaurants through the COVID-19 crisis by providing compensation for restaurant workers to create single-serve meals for distribution to families in need. In our local Squirrel Hill community, Aiello’s Pizza, Kiin, and Silk Elephant are participating.

This program is a fantastic way to fight food insecurity in our community while supporting local restaurants and their workers! Each $10 donation results in the following:

• 1 meal donated to someone in need
• $6 in revenue for the local restaurant preparing the meal
• $2 to support logistics, delivery, and program coordination
• $2 to help unemployed restaurant workers through the Greater Pittsburgh Restaurant Workers Mutual Aid organization
