Established in 1972, the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition gives voice to the hopes and concerns of our residents, institutions, businesses and visitors and works to preserve, improve, and celebrate the quality of life in our vibrant urban Squirrel Hill neighborhood.
The Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition is currently served by its elected 2021 Board of Directors, consisting entirely of residents or business representatives of the Squirrel Hill area. Board members serve 3-year terms with two-term limits. Board meetings occur on the 3rd week of every month and are free and open to the public
We know that everyone has different ideas about how to maintain a vibrant and thriving Squirrel Hill. To guide us in our work of building a neighborhood we all want to live in, we have over 15 committees to provide an open forum for residents’ ideas and energy.
Thank you to the various organizations, businesses, and foundations that partner with the Coalition to enhance and improve our projects services. These relationships serve as a means to pool resources that both advance our mission and can be leveraged to create public-private partnerships for major initiatives in order to accomplish goals that would otherwise be unattainable.
We are now taking on additional responsibilities to serve Squirrel Hill residents and stakeholders as a Registered Community Organization (RCO) with the Department of City Planning.
