The City of Pittsburgh’s Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) is working on the Nine Mile Run bike/pedestrian trail from Commercial St (and Frick Park) to Duck Hollow and the Monongahela River. There are three segments of trail. Pittsburgh Department of Public Works will do the segment of trail close to Commercial St. A bridge over Nine Mile Run was contracted to Repal Construction and they began construction work in late 2009. As of May 2010, the bridge is in place. PennDOT is working with the URA on design of the trail segment close to Old Brown’s Hill Rd. The segments upstream and downstream will be completed after the bridge. The completed trail will help connect Frick Park to the Duck Hollow Trail, and eventually across the Mon to the Great Allegheny Passage.
