Join the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition for Clean Sweep Week from April 22, 2022 to May 01, 2022! This year, we are hosting the event in a hybrid format. See the schedule below:
Sunday April 24: Spend some time from 9:00 am – 12:00 pm picking up litter in the neighborhood! We’ll provide bags, safety vests, and gloves at Forbes and Murray. Please bring your own water bottle.
Friday, April 22 through Sunday May 1: Choose a block (or more) where you live, a block in your favorite park, the block where you walk your dog, or a block that needs a little Tender Loving Care. You decide the day and time between April 22 through May 1 that is convenient for you. You can pick up supplies on Sunday, April 24 or provide your own.
Photo Competition: Send cleanup photos to info@shuc.org for a chance to win local merchant gift cards! Winners will be announced shortly after May 1.
Our sponsors make the Treasure Awards Dinner possible and help SHUC continue advocating for and celebrating the Squirrel Hill community. Thank you for supporting our work and making the 2025 event a success!

Preserving, Improving, and Celebrating the Quality of Life in Squirrel Hill
For over fifty years, the Coalition has been an active and important link in the community. It has served as a sounding board for new ideas, as well as a “watchdog” in the areas of public safety, education, residential quality, the business district, and parks and open space. With its focus on the quality of life in the 14th Ward, SHUC continues to monitor activities and future developments in the community through a range of standing committees.
