Earth Day: Litter Clean Up

Hello Squirrel Hill,

Our weeklong Earth Day weeklong litter cleanup has come to an end. This cleanup occurred from April 21st – 27th. We’re thrilled to recognize the outstanding efforts of our volunteers and the generous contributions from our local businesses that made our Earth Day-Inspired Cleanup Week and in-person event a success!

Everyone involved in our Earth Day cleanup did an amazing job be wanted to specifically mention all of our prize winners for their amazing contributions to this event.

Our prize winners were Friendship Cricle, Girl Scouts (Group cleanup), Samantha Murphy, Zelda from Colfax, Monthly Litter Getter Club, Ken Levin, Colfax Group Cleanup, Girl Scouts from our Earth cleanup in-person event, and Bill Fiedler (Local scout troop leader).

We also wanted to shout out all of the businesses that provided the prizes to these winners. The prizes were provided by Games Unlimited, Current Exhibit, Sanrio, The Bagel Factory, and Silk Elephant provided the grand prize.

We are truly grateful to our community volunteers Rachel Lacrone, head of Litter Patrol, Bob Danenberg, Scott Bluman, Alex, Joe Karin, Adam Greenberg, Suzanna Styles, Vikki, and our amazing SHUC Intern, Alexandra, who all made this event possible through their pre-event set-up, on-site support, and overall event execution!

We appreciate Starbucks on Shady for generously providing coffee for our Earth Day Cleanup event volunteers!

A huge thank you to Representative Frankel’s office for covering the cost of pizza to feed our incredible volunteers! Also, thanks to Napoli’s Pizza for delivering the delicious pizza, offering a kind discount, and even returning with plates and napkins to ensure we were all set!

Finally, a special shout-out to Murray the Squirrel for participating in our litter patrol efforts and brightening everyone’s day!
