Public Meeting: Chatham University’s Proposed Institutional Master Plan

Please join the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition for a virtual review of Chatham University’s proposed Institutional Master Plan at 6:30pm on Tuesday, September 1, 2020. The meeting will be held on Zoom. To attend the meeting, use the following link: https://us02web.zoom.us/j/89331023256.

What is an Institutional Master Plan?

Institutional Master Plans provide a framework for development of institutions, like colleges and hospitals, that control large areas of land. These institutions are unique because they generally contain a greater density of development, are a source of substantial employment, and are usually located immediately adjacent to residential neighborhoods.

As such, the Institutional Master Plan allows the institutions the flexibility to plan and develop project and campus-based standards for building height and mass, parking, urban design and neighborhood compatibility.

Finally, Institutional Master Plans help the public and the community understand the potential growth of institutions and the resultant impacts. (Explanation adapted from Pittsburgh City Planning)
