Child Care Resources during COVID-19

The COVID-19 pandemic has made childcare more difficult to find, which can present a barrier to finding and maintaining employment in Squirrel Hill and across the nation. Here are some resources that can help you access childcare!

The recently launched Allegheny Child Care Finder from Trying Together allows you to search for available childcare and summer camp spots in real time, using information such as age and address. New providers are being added all the time, so keep checking back if you don’t find a resource.

The Early Learning Resource Center (ELRC) can also help to find childcare and summer camps. In addition, it can provide assistance with childcare subsidy applications. Contact the ELRC at (412) 350-3577 or email elrc5@alleghenycounty.us for assistance.

If you’re concerned about the safety of a camp, ask if they are following the practices advised in Allegheny County’s Health & Safety Guidance for Day Camps.

Thank you to the office of Councilman Corey O’Connor for sharing these resources with us!
