In 2013, the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition began a new tradition, honoring its special community Treasures: the people and places that make Squirrel Hill a great place to live, work and do business. Since then, the Squirrel Hill Treasure Dinner has become an annual celebration and fundraiser for the Squirrel Hill Urban Coalition. Each year we recognize and congratulate three individuals, businesses, and organizations that are integral parts to our Squirrel Hill community and one place in Squirrel Hill that has added historic significance to a community we call home.

We invite all of our friends and neighbors to join us this year for the 2017 Squirrel Hill Treasures Dinner!

The Honorees

This year’s Squirrel Hill Treasures are Maria Caruso, for her leadership, promotion of inclusivity in dance, and mentorship of aspiring young dancers; E.J. Strassburger for his tireless commitment to social justice and service as a voice for the voiceless; and John Katz, for his ongoing devotion to ensuring Squirrel Hill is a vibrant, beautiful place to live, work, and play. The 2017 Place Treasure is The Children’s Institute of Pittsburgh for their more than 100 years of dedication to improving the quality of life for children, young people, and their families and providing a safe and nurturing environment for them to reach their full potential. Sponsorship Opportunities

The Treasure Dinner is the Coalition’s biggest fundraiser/gala for the year, bringing in over $200,000 in the last five years. All proceeds go to support the important work of the Coalition, funding nearly half of the organization’s operating costs each year.
